Hej pa er dar hemma i kalla Sverige.
Time for a new report on Queenstown which is a truly great place on this globe. If you ever get a chance you should visit this small town on the south island of New Zealand.
I have been enjoying my self with some new friends from England, USA and the Netherlands yesterday night. We all meet up at the very famous Fergburger a must visit restaurant in Queenstown, before we went out for beers and dancing all night.
So I'm a little tired today and also concerned of my economy ;-)
Active New Zealand Day 6 (14/2 09)
Waking up in the city of action and adventure on a day with blue sky's and 27 degrees Celsius, discovering that my camera started working again made me feel LUCKY!!
I was up for adventure and headed down to the city center to book some activities, Yes!!
I decided to do Paragliding (tror det heter skarmflygning) and "The Shotover Canyon Swing".
After getting my bookings sorted I went to a camera store to Backup two of my memory cards on to a DVD. Then I went to the very same Internet place I'm at right now to update this very Blog. Did I mention that they had two iMac's, Oh Yes me Like :-)
At 13.30 I met up with the Paragliding team, they picked us up in a mini van and drove us up to Coronet Peak. After a short briefing and putting on some warmer clothes, for the wind, I and my Swiss paragliding pilot took of.
The stunning view and the very smooth ride down to the landing at the valley floor took about 20 min. I had survived my first great adventure, and got photos and a DVD to prove it!
Back in town i headed for Fergburger, and had a "Southern Swine" a Big bacon and cheese burger, which I eat at the nearby park by the lake shore.
Ca 1 hour later me and seven other brave souls met at the Canyon Swing office to sign a disclaiming form, basically saying that we where responsible for our own actions.
Then they drove us up to the Canyon in a mini van. Arriving we walked down a narrow trail to get from the car park to the ramp where we where going to jump. First thing was to get fitted out with a harness and then I just had to wait while the first volunteer a Finish guy called Tommy launched him self backwards of the ramp screaming loudly.
Being the 2nd one up I have to admit that I was quite shaky, and the instructors made very little effort to calm you down. Instead they basically took pride in making your legs even weaker.
The scariest part was standing right at the edge of the 109m deep canyon and taking a photo trying to smile for the camera. Then they had me convinced to do the pindrop, which was putting your hands behind your back and then jumping face first down.
A REAL ADRENALINE RUSH !!!!
After the first jump you could make a second one, quite cheep, in a different style. I decided to try a backward style called "The Chair of Death"
Which you can watch on YouTube by clicking here
Back in QT with a DVD and photos of the swings, and a lighter wallet I headed for the apartment where we stayed. Met Callum and he showed me his 5000m skydive (fallskarmshopp) which looked amazing, Something that I 've been thinking about doing sins then.
Then we went out for dinner with Shelahg and Amy at the Fishbone restaurant. I had a very nice NZ Rock Lobster with some Sauvignon Blanc.
Then another great day was over.
